*"Certified Transitional" describes almonds farmed using methods that comply with the USDA National Organic standards, however, these same standards dictate that the orchard must be farmed this way for 36 months (3 years) continuously for the almonds to be Certified as Organic. Meanwhile, since almonds are harvested yearly, there are two harvests that we describe as Transitional. We process these almonds in compliance with organic standards for Processors. Therefore, Transitional almonds are grown and processed without the use of synthetic herbicides, fungicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. No fumigants or synthetic chemicals.
