Maurilio like many of the Ayacucho artisans migrated to Lima, Peru several decades ago to avoid the violence of the rebel Shining Path group. He started over in Lima by using what he knew best, the traditional pottery techniques that have been passed down in his family for generations.
This Ayacucho Santa world ornament is handcrafted in the workshop of Maurilio Huaraca in a suburb of Lima Peru. The figure is molded, fired and then hand painted. The Ayacucho pottery ususally reflects local cultural or religious scenes. This piece is fairly trade. The Size is 2 1/2"H.
