The Cooperative La Semilla de Dios was founded 1977 in the city of La Palma, Chalatenango. The Cooperatives main objective is to provide work, benefits and training, as well as being a cultural resource in El Salvador. Now there are close to 300 workshops that are part of the cooperative. Recently, in an effort to be more environmental, outside groups, including Aid to Artisans, helped to develop techniques to recycle newspaper, which is abundant, into the newly created styles of Paper Mache.
