At Mata Traders, fair trade doesn't just start with the women who stitch our garments and bags, it begins in the fields of our fabric producers. By using fair trade certified cottons, we support small family farms that are paid a fair price for their cotton and follow environmental standards that restrict the use of agrochemicals and encourage sustainability.
Our products are made exclusively in India by women’s cooperatives who pay their employees a living wage, provide safe working conditions, and offer services like on-site day-care, overtime compensation, and retirement benefits.
Another component of the line is the fabrics we use. Most are hand-woven and get their vibrant colors from environmentally safe vegetable dyes and traditional block printing processes. By using these textiles we support weavers and block printers throughout India whose livelihood has been endangered by the shift of fabric production to the factory.
Casual yet flirtatious, our boat neck top is available in 2 color combinations: white and blue or black and green. Hand-embroidered motifs at the yoke are made in the homes of our women co-op members! Side slits at hip. 100 % cotton, made in India, sizes S-XL.
