These very finely woven bracelets are made of fine, dyed strands of native African vegetable fiber, more commonly known as grass. There is a great variety of colors. The sizes vary also but these bracelets do stretch and are flexible enough to accommodate most hands and wrists. They measure between 8 and 8 1/2" in circumference, approximately 2 3/4" in diameter.
Sturdy and long-lasting, these are made by the Somba people of northern Benin who are known for their skill in working with this fine native African grass. Traditionally, Somba women wear multiple very fine braided strands of this grass around their waists...and nothing else.
We sell these fascinating bracelets in sets of 3, all in beautiful bright colors. We ask you to allow us to select yours for you.
