Producer Story

Northern Creations of Peru is a worker-owned cooperative comprised of twenty-five mothers that have joined together to improve the standard of living for their families. Located in rural Piura, a hot, desert-like area north of Lima, steady employment is hard to come by - especially for women. The mothers of Northern Creations took matters into their own hands, did what they know best (knitting and crocheting), and decided to start their own Fair Trade business.

Our hand crocheted shoulder bags are not only beautiful, but functionally perfect to handle your every day needs. Handmade by a brand new women's knitting cooperative in rural Piura, Peru, the dimensions of the bag are a deep 12" x 12" with a long 23" strap (11.5" drop) and feature a small inside pocket and a zip closure.
