Fair Trade handwoven Shawl, natural plant dyes, gray

Grupo Ajbatz' Bal' -a group of 27 Mayan women artisans who have been organized for 4 years as a cooperative of women doing traditional backstrap weaving. The women have learned from their mothers and grandmothers how to hand-dye yarn using local plants, bark, vegetables or fruit and make beautiful handcrafts with these hand dyed weavings. 140 people benefit from the earnings of this group—earnings so they are able to help support their families and especially to send their children to school.
