Associacion Mujeres Artesanas Ixkoq’a’ Tzolojya’ - are a group of 26 Mayan women. They make traditional weavings on backstrap looms, are learning to weave on foot pedal looms, have mastered the art of making beautiful jewelry and beaded handcrafts. There are many widowed women and single mothers in this artisan group and they use their earnings to support their children. 66 people benefit from the efforts of this group of mostly Kakchiquel speaking women.

Education And More is a Fair Trade, Christian charitable organization dedicated to helping educate children of the western highlands of Guatemala and to reducing poverty in the communities by helping artisan groups obtain Fair Trade prices for their handcrafts. Our work with Women Artisan groups is based on mutual respect, care and understanding as we follow Fair Trade principals and guidelines.

Each time you choose to purchase a handcraft you can be assured the artisan has received a Fair Trade wage for their work.
