The Women's Skills Development Project is a nonprofit founded in 1975 to empower poor and illiterate women from rural villages in Nepal who are widowed, divorced, disabled or abused. With free health awareness and English literacy classes, many artisans have developed the skills and confidence to become completely self-sufficient. They've flourished from a small group of 16 employees to more than 200 today, all of whom benefit from training in sewing, weaving, dying, business and design skills.
