Global Mamas Cooperative in Ghana, West Africa is a collective of batik artists and seamstresses who use the power of cooperation to market their wares to a broad audience. Each retains independence and reaps benefits of the groups standardized designs and marketing efforts. This Co-Op has been successful in moving many women from poverty into the Ghanaian middle class, allowing them to grow their businesses, employ others, buy houses and send their children to secondary education.
