Pure and symbolic of deep spiritual understanding, the lotus flower rises for the morning sun. The lotus flower lies dormant under muddy water at night, but returns every morning to bloom once again. The spiritual teachings of the East have heavily influenced artisan Ana Ahmad's painting. Using a dash of emotion, and touch of genius, Ahmad brings to us all the pure divinity of the lotus, while still giving us the sense of constant rebirth.

"The inspiration for my work lies in the beauty and colorful vitality of nature. My art is my vision of the natural world".

Born in the town of Pasuruan in Eastern Java, Ana Ahmad has been painting since he was 14 years old. As a young man without opportunity or access to formal training, Ana began working with painters in local markets offering his time in exchange for some more informal apprenticing.

After honing his skills, Ana came to Bali in 1998 in search of a wider and more prolific market for displaying and selling his work. His work has recently been featured in a number of exhibitions in Ubud, and he hopes to open his own exhibition gallery in the...read more
